A Tale of Life

Sit back, and I’ll tell you a tale: A tale of LIFE. It is the passionate and invigorating tale of a young woman who sought those things for which we all yearn – connection, self-realization, experience, and joy. Yet the world is full of obstacles and challenges that beget suffering, pain, and misery. Surprisingly, many of the hurdles of life are created within our own minds. We generate false hopes, false expectations, and false realities that hinder progression toward enrichment and enlightenment. We then project these fictitious creations onto our surroundings and struggle to make sense of the inconsistencies. What do I mean?

I am speaking of myth, folklore, and religion. In our efforts to understand the complexities of life, we have contemplated the nature of our place in the cosmos and considered philosophical questions deceptive in their seeming simplicity. “Who am I?”, “Why am I here?”, “Where did I come from?”, “Where am I going?”, “What is my purpose?”, etc. Some of the greatest minds in our history have spent their lives seeking the answers to these questions, and they’ve provided extraordinary insights.

However, there have also been many to propose that our consciousness was planned and designed by a being beyond our ability to comprehend. They’ve spread tales that evolved into the many stories of our origins – some recognized as mere contemplations; others prized and worshiped by devout followers. In entertaining such a possibility, whole societies have been framed around individual explanations detailing the qualities of a divine being. Wars have been fought over disagreements concerning his, her, or its nature. Even now, humanity is classified by their respective religious faith and these belief systems engender division, hatred, and fear.

Here, I will take my readers on a journey of discovery and reflection. I will share my personal tale and the lessons I have learned in pondering those great philosophical questions of life. I will uncover the deceptions we build within our own minds and the damage caused by following the tenants of a false reality. In doing so, I hope to inform, inspire, and inflame the thoughts and passions of those who will follow me on this literary journey. And so, it begins…
